Arrive at the beautiful Hosen-in Temple, where you’ll enjoy the soothing view of a centuries-old tree from a tatami-matted under open room. Sip on matcha tea and taste traditional sweets as you discover the mystery of the room’s “bloody ceiling.”

After visiting Hosen-in Temple, you will have time to visit Sanzen-in Temple, famous for its wonderful moss-covered garden.

Later, head to a local restaurant in Ohara for a delicious lunch. The restaurant, Nomura Sanso, is a stunning location completed in 1987 after a decade of work. Surrounded by a Japanese garden, the traditional building has many selected art pieces and boasts a beautiful veranda overlooking the garden.

Savor carefully prepared dishes made with locally, sourced vegetables, blending modern elements with traditional Japanese cuisine. Their famous chicken hotpot and fresh vegetable dishes are served. The reservation is hard to book.
